I started my adult life as a scientist, first in academia, then industry. It wasn’t until I stayed home to raise my children years ago that my ceramics journey began. My approach to clay work is much like my approach to lab work was. Every piece I make is an experiment of some sort. Every kiln opening offers more information, which leads to another experiment.
For the last several years I’ve been making my pottery at the Worcester Center for Crafts. I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops and classes there, as well as at Penland School of Crafts and Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts.
It has become clear to me the pottery class that started out as a diversion has become much more. I’m excited to continue on this journey where every piece is an adventure, and I meet every kiln opening with giddy excitement.
