Upon retirement, I wanted a creative outlet to express myself. My good friend was taking painting classes in Fort Lauderdale, FL and I was immediately intrigued with the idea and joined the class. I studied under Nia Nakis who brought me from never studying art to the basics of good composition, techniques and unleashed my passion for painting. I have since taken classes with Lois Anderson at The Umbrella Art Center of Concord, Michelle Garro at Garro Studio of Hudson and most recently studied with Gordon Harrison, Canadian landscape artist. It is Gordon Harrison who has most influenced me in the use of broad strokes, brilliant color and a renewed urgency to paint.
I find inspiration wherever I am, whether walking around town or traveling through various states, Canada and France. I paint almost every day and with every painting my style develops a little more. My work has been on exhibit with the Sudbury Art Association in the Goodnow Library, Sudbury MA., Three Stones Gallery, Concord, MA, The Artists Corner, Acton, MA and Gallery Seven, Maynard, MA. I have been chosen to exhibit in the lluminations Exhibit at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, Feb 2018-May 2018.
The majority of my paintings are oil on canvas, landscapes, and are medium and large sizes. I am an emerging artist.
